Houston-based Intuitive Machines has announced a delay in the launch of its first lunar lander mission, the IM-1. Originally scheduled for a January 12-16 window, the mission will now target no earlier than mid-February 2024. This shift comes due to changes in SpaceX's launch manifest, the company responsible for carrying the Nova-C lander to the Moon.
Shifting Schedules, Same Destination
The primary reason for the delay is attributed to unfavorable weather conditions at Cape Canaveral, Florida, which have caused SpaceX to reschedule several launches. This domino effect impacted Intuitive Machines' launch slot, as the company relies on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket to propel its lander towards the lunar surface.
